I went out in the late evening of June 15th with the hope of capturing images of the Aurora with the Downtown Calgary skyline..it didn't happen.
I went out very early on the morning of June 17th to Brown-Lowery Provincial Park, located to the SW of the city, with the hope of capturing images of a very thin Crescent Moon rising over the Downtown Calgary skyline..it didn't happen due to too many clouds. Whilst there though I did get to enjoy a nice mild hike and capture a few photos too.
As can often happen in the month of June the sky was full of drama on the 21st when I headed out with my camera gear..was actually hoping for lightning, but it didn't happen.
I went to the specific location (near Valleyview Park, Calgary) these next two photos were taken (below) because of the second photo, where the setting crescent moon is aligned over the tallest building in the city (Brookfield Place). I captured the first of these two photos at the time I did because that little bright spec to the right of the Calgary Tower (must be a planet..not sure which one) was just about to disappear behind the buildings. This is an example of one of the reasons why I head out to my planned shooting locations early..you just never know what else interesting you might happen to see while there.
This (below) is definatly one of my favorite alignemet photos thus far! I've experienced many failed attempts at this imagined/planned photo.
