A simple shot of the Downtown Calgary skyline taken (captured just inside of 20 minutes before actual Sunrise) on October 2nd, 2022. I like the Autumn colours of the shrubs/bushes captured in the foreground, and the relatively clear blue sky above :)
A simple shot of the soon to be setting Sun aligned with the top of the Calgary Tower (below) on October 3rd, 2022.
A few images (below) of the rising Moon over the Downtown Calgary skyline, including this 16:9 panoramic image (2nd below) of the Waxing Gibbous Moon (95.7%) rising over a portion of the Downtown Calgary skyline on the evening of October 7th, 2022. The October Full Moon (Hunter's Moon) peaks Sunday, October 9th and Monday, October 10th.
This was disappointing for sure as it had great potential to be a special picture..unfortunatly I just couldn't find sharp focus in the darkness..sadly it's too blurry. A simple shot (below) of the soon to be setting Moon aligned with the top of the Calgary Tower (below) on October 8th, 2022 :(
'Tunnel Vision'
The almost (99.1%) Full Moon (Hunter's Moon) rising behind the Grace Baptist Church of Calgary on the evening of October 8th, 2022.
What makes this photo kind of interesting is that it was shot through the core of Downtown Calgary..all the way along/down 6th Avenue. I was set up on the Mewata Bridge (14th St SW) and the Church was 6.9 km away when I captured the photo (below). That's a pretty long distance away to be taking a picture of a relatively smallish building (compared to the size of the buildings downtown anyway). Turns out that you can only really see the sharply sloped steeple (very tiny in the frame), and the white cross on top is barely recognizable due to atmospheric distortion/pollution, and simply being so far away and therefor tiny.
Unfortunately, it was quite hazy that evening too, so the Moon doesn't stand out like I'd hoped it would, especially with everything else going on in the scene between my lens and the main subject..it really needed to pop vividly. I think if this occurrence was to happen even just 15 or 20 minutes later than it did, the overall ambient light would have been lessened just enough to make this photo turn out better.
Another unfortunate thing is, I'm in trouble with my family now..this specific occurrence and our Thanksgiving family dinner were scheduled for the exact same time. Hopefully I'll be forgiven for missing dinner in time.
I'm just so glad that the Moon wasn't a complete no show :)

These are just a couple of photos (below) I took with my cell phone..they give you a bit of an idea of my setup and what I was looking at when capturing the previous photo (above).
Disappointed with how the previous planned Moonrise photo turned out, mostly due to haze, I was somewhat desperate to make something good come from my efforts/outing/sacrifice. I stuck around the area of the Mewata Bridge for a while after..waiting until the Moon emerged out from behind the buildings. By the time it did, it was unfortunately just too dark. Here's a photo I managed to take (below), but I don't like it much to be honest :(

'Warm Morning Glow'
Though no drama at all, and without the arch, the sky very nearly possesses the full range of colours of that of a rainbow in this (below) 16x9 panoramic capture of the Downtown Calgary skyline, a little before Sunrise on the morning of October 10th, 2022 :)

The conditions were mostly clear, slightly hazy, a fair bit of atmospheric distortion/shimmers going on, and very windy.
'Calgary Tower's Total Eclipse of the Sun (Close-up)'

I visited three different parks on October 12th, 2022, starting with the Mallard Point area of Fish Creek Provincial Park :)
A tree (not sure what type) portrait shot during the fairly vivid/colourful sunrise that was occurring when I first arrived at the park that morning (was parking the car when I noticed the sky was turning into something special). It was a bit of a mad scramble to at least get something captured that included it. This photo (below) was taken a minute or two after the colour had peaked..sure comes and goes very fast :)
Usually when I take pictures of the Moon, they're planned out well in advance..not with these though (below). This was basically just me messing around with my camera while waiting for some folks to arrive that I'd planned to meet that morning. As I walked the pathway, the Moon just seemed to be following me wherever I went lol.
Though relatively tiny in the frame, the Moon is the main subject here. I purposely blurred the trees as much as possible, while trying to keep them at least recognizable as trees..it's just fun to experiment sometimes while on the fly :)

Being well into the Autumn season, the pathways are lined with fallen leaves. This (below) just looked like a nice scene.gentle curved path in among trees at various stages of switching gears into their winter mode :)
It was a beautiful morning to be out enjoying the pathways along the Bow River..this (below) is just one of many very pleasant views :)
It just looked like a nice/pleasant scene (below), that happened to catch my eye, when walking by the people sitting on the park bench down by the Bow River :)
When deciding to head out to the Marshall Springs ponds for a potentially nice Sunset photo, there was quite a few pleasing clouds on the west horizon that would likely help to make that happen. However, in the time between making the decision and the time of the shot, those clouds had all but evaporated away..so, this shot unfortunately has no drama provided by the clouds. It sure was a pleasant evening to be out though, and quite rare (for around here anyway) that there wasn't even a breath of wind to be had, giving this photo (below) an almost mirror like reflection off of the pond water's surface. Plus, I finally got this weird craving I've been having for a starburst effect to clearly be visible within a photo out of my system (lol), as the Sun descends behind the Sanderson Ridge housing complex :)
'Mule Deer'
I encountered these Mule Deer when on my way out of the park after the Sunset photo. There were three of them foraging, none of which had reached full adulthood yet..one was noticeably smaller than the other two. Every so often they'd stop briefly to take a look my way..checking to make sure I was still foraging as well I suppose (just something I pretended to do now whenever in the near vicinity of Deer..seems to set them at ease). They look so cute when they haven't grown into their relatively huge ears yet (below) :)
